I just recently moved to San Diego and graduated from the College of Charleston this past May! I am new to the West Coast and glad to be here. I grew up traveling a lot, whether it was with family, friends, or alone! My roots are in the South but I am always eager to experience new things and through this I discovered early on the transformative power of the language. English became more than just a means of communication - it became a gateway to creativity and expression. Traveling became not only a way to explore new places but also to delve into the diverse dialects and nuances of the English language. Learning flourishes in the intersections of culture, history, and human connection and I have had the opportunities to see this proven true. Other than reading and writing, I love to be outdoors, specifically hiking - which San Diego has a lot of, and I can’t wait to check some trails off my list! I am entering this post-grad season with anticipation of what the West Coast has to offer and am eager to continue exploring the English language. Whether through tutoring sessions or literary discussions, I promise to cultivate a space where language becomes a tool for empowerment and self-discovery.

Experience: Briefly mentioned above, I just graduated from the College of Charleston (2024). I earned my degree in English as well as Secondary Education and enjoyed learning new approaches to teaching and writing there over the past four years. In college I gained a semester`s worth of teaching experience in an English 2 classroom and was also involved in HerCampus, a nationwide blog writing club for women. I published a poetry book and was also a founder of the Chrestomathic Literary Society at the College of Charleston. I have always surrounded myself with the English language, whether it be through literature or writing itself! These experiences allowed me to find fulfillment in sharing the beauty of English. I have my South Carolina English Teaching Credential and am in the process of transferring this license to the state of California.
